Summer Term 2 2013-14Year 5 took a trip to Tesco as part of the 'from Farm to Fork' initiative. Whilst there, they looked at the various types of fruit imported to England from Brazil.
In Tuesday assemblies this half term, Rev Gill Page is introducing a different religion and culture to us. Amazing how much information can be stored in one box! This week's religion was Christianity
Year 5 have been studying Brazil in their topic work. That culminated in a Brazil day, where the children could wear Brazil-themed outfits. They also made Carnival masks and tried out lots of different Brazillian treats.
Year 6 attended a Leavers Service at Bolton Parish Church, along with other Year 6s from the local area. Some of our children performed a drama on Mary Magdalene's reaction to Jesus' resurrection from the tomb.

As part of the Hand on Heart training, pupils across school learnt some basic first aid techniques, and staff were trained on how to use the defibrillator. Completing this training makes us a 'Heart Safe' School!

A small group of Year 4 and 5 children attended the 2014 Children's Book Festival at Manchester Metropolitan University. With the focus on multiculturalism and diversity, they learnt to speak some Chinese, how to use chopsticks, debated the topic of immigration and took part in a Djemba drum workshop!
As part of the area's World War I centenary events, we have designed a banner for the bandstand, which will be displayed during the Poppy Parade.
Year 2 have been starting their Computer Science learning with some simple programming apps. Here they were programming fish to swim correctly.

All year, Year 5 have been learning either Cornet or Clarinet with their MAPAS teachers. Following a spectacular performance at the Lowry theatre, they performed for the whole school and some parents.
Learning about Life Cycles, Year 2 hosted some caterpillars in their classroom, and watched as they developed through the stages. Yesterday, they released the butterflies into the wild.
