Rev. Gill PageHello, My name is Reverend Gill Page and I am the vicar at St Paul's Church, Walkden. If there is anything you want to know about church and what goes on there, I am one person to ask. My telephone number is 0161 799 6869 and my e-mail is firstname.lastname@example.org
For baptism enquiries contact me and I will arrange to visit you in your home before we book a convenient date. For wedding enquiries contact our lay reader Jim Howell on 0161 950 1769 and he will arrange for you to come to church where he will take your details, advise you of the cost and ask when you would like to be married.
If you have suffered a bereavement and would like to talk or arrange a funeral at St Paul’s, I am available for this pastoral visit. Or for any other personal matter that is troubling you. I am always available as a listening ear and for prayer if required.
Pupils' intellectual, aesthetic, physical, social, moral and spiritual development is underpinned by the special partnership that exists between the Church and School Communities. Moreover, relationships within the school community should reflect that unique partnership, promoting shared, Christian values, where the daily act of worship brings the school together with elements of praise, prayer and active participation.
Our church services are on Sunday at 10.30am.
1st Sunday all-age worship
2nd Sunday Holy Communion
3rd Sunday Morning Prayer with Jim Howell
4th Sunday Holy Communion
We also have a service of Holy Communion at 8am on Sunday which is from the Book of Common Prayer (old language)
As the event section of our website shows events in school have most recently included our annual Poppy Day celebrations where children purchase poppies and engage in a minute's silence, whilst learning about the significance of 11th November. Visitors serving in the British Armed forces and in the Police gave talks to pupils about their work in protecting the country during Job week. Harvest week also supports pupils in learning about supporting others and raising money to support a child in Africa.
ACTS (adults and children together) meet on the 2nd, 3rd and 4th Sundays in term time for adults and their pre-school children to learn together. This is led by Jackie Woods.
Junior church also meets as above for children aged 5 and above. This is led by Kath Jackson ( one of our governors) and Gill Culshaw.
Tots at 2 meet on Fridays in church led by Suzanne Hunt. Drinks, craft, story and chit chat. Get to meet others with babies and toddlers. It finishes in time to pick up other children from school. At the beginning of each school year I ask the children in year 6 whether they would like to be confirmed in the Christian faith. Classes are held in the Autumn. The confirmation service takes place in either November or January/February and includes children and adults.
